How to add character to your delay

Try adding some grit and saturation to your delay. Insert your favourite distortion/overdrive on your delay return channel. Add an EQ after distortion to further shape the tone of your delay tails.
Many modern delay plugins such as Soundtoys Echo Boy also feature built in eq and distortion effects.
