Most often we use a pitch shifter if we need to transpose something to fit the key of our track. However, this simple tool can be used creatively too. Try to pitch loops (drums, percussion, synths etc...) up or down 5, 7, 12 or more semitones. This can often create some new and interesting textures that you wouldn't normally discover.
