Drum Bus Processing Tips

#AudiotentTip 236. Drum Bus Processing.

Here is a few processing techniques that will make your drum bus bigger and more present.
First, send all the drums to one bus channel. Insert your favourite drum compressor (1176, api 2500, Tube-Tech or SSL G tend to work really well). Compress the drums a little to glue them together and tighten the kit.
Next, insert an eq. Make a small dip in the lower midrange to reduce any boxy-ness. Add a touch of low and high end (smiley curve eq).
Finally, add some saturation (or multi-band saturation) to make the drums coherent and more present.
