When you produce a session musician, vocalist, guitar player etc... Make sure you keep recording, even if it's a warm-up or a practice play. Try not to tell they are being captured too.
Some of the best takes happen when musicians are relaxed and feel no tension. You can also end up using bits & pieces from the warm-up recording and introduce the happy musical accidents into your project.
