Audiotent Tip 348. Synth Unison.
One of the greatest ways to thicken a sound is to apply unison.
Unison is when multiple notes are playing the same pitch at the same time. This could be the same pitch or spread across different octaves.
During sound design, we have the opportunity to apply subtle changes to the individual unison parts. The most common being pitch (Detune). Once all the parts have a slight variation in pitch, the result is a thicker sound that fills up the frequency spectrum.
