Audiotent Tip 365. Synthesising Bass.
There are many ways to synthesise bass. A good starting point is to get the oscillators sounding nice and full, before moving onto the filter section.
Try layering the oscillators with a different octave set to each. Doing this will help to create a larger sounding bass that fills more of the frequency spectrum.
Use filters to tame any unnecessary high frequencies and bring the focus to the low end.
A good technique for extra punch is to modulate the master pitch with a super fast envelope. This way the sound is being pitched up at the very beginning, creating a ‘knock’ sound. Make sure you set the decay to very fast so that the pitch recovers.
