#AudiotentTip 207. The Low End Trick.
Some EQ's feature different curves when boosting compared to cutting. This can come in very useful, especially on your low end. The Pultec EQP-1A is the most famous for this technique.
Try this on your kick. Load up a Pultec emulation and make a boost & cut at the 60hz setting. Because the cut happens slightly higher in the frequency range this creates a very unique curve. This will add weight without the mud.
This trick can also be created with the Slate Digital LLC Custom Series EQ. Simply add two plugins in serial as displayed in the image.
