When producing music, be mindful that the human brain can only process a certain amount of information at any one time. Try to limit the elements of your mix to three key components. For example Drums, Bass & Lead or Drums, Bass & Vocal etc. This arrangement/production choice will naturally allow the mix to appear less cluttered.
