#AudiotentTip 144. Hi Hat Processing.
There are multiple ways to add some extra polish to your hi-hat sounds. Here are a few of our favourites:
Distortion can be used to introduce extra harmonics to make the hats appear thicker.
High pass filter to clean up unnecessary midrange, making the hat very light.
Pitching the hats down a few semitones to make them sound heavier.
Layering hats with white noise helps to fill up the frequency spectrum. Creating a more synthetic sound.
